Very Seductive! This trail keeps you wanting to see what's around the next bend. The ever changing scenery is very seductive. On a clear day, the views from this trail can't be beat any where in the Olympic Park. The trail is named Deer Park trail but it actually goes from Deer Park to the Obstruction Point trailhead. If you want to hike the 7.6 miles one way, find a friend to leave their car at the other end. Starting your hike from the Obstruction Point trailhead, is somewhat easier because you will start at 6100 feet elevation and end at 5200 feet elevation at Deer Park. Driving directions to the Obstruction Point trailhead: Turn left onto N. Race Street from highway US-101 in Port Angeles. Follow the signs to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center (approximately 17 miles). Turn sharp left onto the Obstruction Point road just as you enter the Hurricane Ridge Vistor Center parking lot. Follow the single lane Obstruction Point road to the end (approximately 8 miles). Camp sites are available at the Roaring Winds campground. An over night permit is required for camping. Permits may be obtained at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center in Port Angeles. Be sure to bring water because no water is available on the trail.
Nearest Town: Port Angeles, WA.
